Two shipwreck enthusiasts say they found a 200-year-old schooner in deep water in Lake Ontario.

The Portland lies within the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, about 15 miles east of Cape Ann. Its nearly 200 passengers and crew members included a senator from Maine and members of the black Abyssinian Church community in 19th-century Portland, Maine.

The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism will support a project aimed at bringing the Turkish frigate ErtuÄŸrul, which sank off the coast of Japan in 1890 in a severe typhoon, to the surface.

The frigate Ertuğrul was sent by Sultan Abdülhamit II to the emperor of Japan on a goodwill visit.
