Diving in Tunisia
Tunisia as a scuba diving destination in the Mediterranean is not well known, but it hosts some good sites like the World War II wreck of Hammamet, the colorful underwater fauna in Hergla and Tabarka, underwater archaeological sites in Mahdia, and caves around Djerba.

Diving is becoming more and more popular in Tunisia, particularly around Tabarka which is near the border with Algeria. The Northern Coast near Tabarka and North Cap Bon has rocky shores with particularly spectacular underwater landscapes. At Tabarka, the country’s most northwesterly town along the so-called ‘Coral Coast’ there are various dive centres who dive numerous locations like caves and tunnels as well as reefs. Fish life is good with the usual Mediterranean species including octopus and large groupers.
