New Member
The last time I used a rebreather was in the mid 1990s at Key West Naval Air Station, FL. I recently got a complete Draeger LAR V with the Secumar Life Preserver and all the bottles in the aluminum military deployment case. I need some help putting it back into operation and getting it tested. The last time it was used was in 1992/1993 (based on the stamps on the bottle)

Adjustment of prices
Today is the last chance to order the Apoc with the unadjusted price.
I can't remember seeing anything about the electronics being adjusted upwards, can anyone confirm this?
Putting in my order for the Apoc now, holding off on the electronics for the time being i think...
Am i #1 in Norway? I think i heard about a Swede living in Norway ordering one, but he doesn't count :D

TDI Advanced Trimix manual wanted
I scrolled thru the list a several times and I only found this place that is dealing with training. Even tough it is not Rebreather related I'm look for a copy of TDI Adv Trimix textbook.I'm sure some of you have dove OC Trimix for awhile before got trapped by the dark side. I somehow misplaced my copy and now I woud like to translate this book for some buddies who are about to take an OC Adv Trimix class. Also a TDI Adv Gas Blender texbook would intrest me as well. let me know if you have one laying around and want to get rid of. Thanks in advance.

Duck Weed
Received my HammerHead Rebreather the first part of October and started my training with Tom Mount in Miami. I had met Jakup of Golem Grear in Feb. at Jackson Blue to check out the smaller scrubber and decided it would suit my type of diving, which is a quick cave dive and go home. By using the standard canister with the smaller scrubber I had to have a larger spacer inserted in the bottom of the canister. This caused and unexpected plus that I had not counted on. By having a larger air pocked at the bottom of the canister I needed no weights added to the counter lungs to keep me horizontal with great trim.
Training with Tom is great and at my slow pace. Trained on some small reefs off the coast of Miami and the Spiegel Grove. Was schedule to dive the Capt. Dan and Hydro Atlanta but the weather said no. Will do at a later date.
At Orange Grove doing some practice dill flush and gear removal when my HUD started failing so took the unit off underwater. Found the problem with the connector not being screwed tightly down so water had entered the plug. Went to the surgace and dried the plug and put the unit back on. Now Orange Grove for those who have not been there is full of Duck Weed which is a small green plant. By taking the mouthpiece out and working on the HUD at the surface I found out later was a bad mistake. Anyway, put the unit back on and descended back down to about 20 feet when I noticed the readouts on my computed was getting blurry. Knew something was wrong and switch to OC and thumbed the dive. Told my buddy it was time to get out and go to Bill Rennaker's at Cave Excursions who was holding his annual REAC.
Next morning I woke up with a bad headache and when I cleaned the unit I found the problem. Inside the BOV both one-way valves had that Duck Weed stuck everywhere and could no longer function correctly. Lession I won't forget.

Switching diluents on ascent
I'm not a Rebreather diver yet, but dive with a few who are & am always asking questions as to the how's & why's of it all. I'm mostly a lurker on this board soaking up as much info as I can as I look to head down the RB path next year, but after a dive we did a couple weeks ago, I felt the urge to post this question.
My specific question is this: we did a dive to 250' for about 15min. 3 of us were on OC & 1 was on a Rebreather. The RB diver was diving 10/50 as diluent. At our 70' stop, I noticed bubbles coming up from below me & I knew the only person below me was the RB diver, so I quickly started dropping back down & was frantically trying to get his attention to see what was going on. He kept signaling ok & was fumbling around with one of his offboard tanks & his CL. Once everything settled out, and I was convinced everything was ok, we finished our deco. On the boat, I asked what had happened and he said that he switched from his onboad diluent(10/50) to his offboard air(drysuit bottle). On this specific dive, does this make sense? I've run it on V-Planner, which I'm not proficient at yet w/ CC profiles, but based on what I ran, it only made a 2 minute difference in total run time (please correct me if I'm wrong on this) & displayed an IBCD warning. How many of you would have gone through the trouble/risk of doing this for the seemingly nil benefit(again, on this specific dive)?
My 2nd question is what kind of dive profile, if any, would this be a common/sensible practice?
Remember, I'm asking this never having dived a Rebreather before, and as I mentioned, I'm far from proficient w/ planning CC dives using V-planner(this was my first go at it).

Optima mCCR/eCCR Hybrid
Given recent threads discussing the merits of mCCR or hybrid mCCR/eCCR for use in recreational i.e. less than 40m depths, I am interested in considering this modification for my Optima.
So the obvious question, have any Optima divers modified their rig to include an additional constant flow manual oxygen injection?
If so, I would be interested in whether you have found it to be a worthwhile modification, and how you have configured the oxygen addition.
Thanks,
Tony
