Nudibranch Safari with Christian Skauge

Christian Skauge will be hosting a combined photo and marine biology workshop - a nudibranch safari - on Gulen Dive Resort, Norway
22 Mar 2012 (All day)  -  25 Mar 2012 (All day)
Book before:

Here's your chance to discover the Norwegian nudibranchs on Gulen Dive Resort. March is the best time of year to spot them, and we can see thousands in the course of an entire weekend of nudibranch photography.

3rd nudibranch safari
The third annual Nudibranch Safari will be held on March 20-25, 2012 at Gulen Dive Resort on the Norwegian west coast. As on previous safaris, scientists and nudibranch experts from the University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Jussie Evertsen and Torkild Bakken will be on site to share their vast knowledge about nudibranchs with everyone.

"Scientific" program
The first two days, emphasis will be on finding, identifying and photographing nudibranchs, while the more "scientific" program with advanced identification and biology will start Friday morning after the scientists have arrived. Participants can choose between staying for the full duration of the safari, or arrive late and stay the weekend.

In total, over 50 nudibranch species has been found, identified and photographed on the two previous workshops at Gulen Dive Resort, proving the house reef to be a unique habitat with spectacular diversity. Last year we even found two species never before recorded in Norway! All dives are done off the pier at the dive resort, maximizing time to study the findings and putting in as many dives as you like.

Hundreds of species
Norway boast close to a hundred nudibranch species in total, but about a third of these are deep-water species. This means we're close to having found ALL Norwegian nudibranch species in just one divespot - can we find even more next year? Join us at Gulen Dive Resort in March 2012 to find out!

If you're interested in nudibranchs this is THE event of the year!
