Don Silcock
Don Silcock was born and grew up in the north-west of England but a one year assignment in the middle east in 1977 turned into a 14 year career in the oil & gas industry, during which time he worked in Libya, Iran, Saudi Arabia & Bahrain.
Don started diving in 1978 with a one-day resort course in Malta, but got serious about it while living in Bahrain from 1984 to 1991 when he joined the local BSAC branch and eventually became the Diving Officer and an Advanced Instructor. He also qualified as a PADI Divemaster while living in Bahrain.
In 1991 Don and his family moved to Brisbane in Australia where they lived for 7 years before moving to Sydney in 1998.
Since moving to Australia Don has dived most of the main locations on the east coast - from the reefs of the northern, central & southern Great Barrier Reef in Queensland to Jervis Bay in New South Wales and the cooler waters of the Spencer Gulf in South Australia.
For the last 8 years Don has been concentrating most of his diving in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and has now dived most of the main locations in both those countries.
